Appearance

Yan wears a headband with light colored hair, albeit shorter than his brother's. He has been shown both wearing a luxurious and revealing outfit similar to a belly dancer's, as well as casual clothes to blend in Japan more properly.

Personality

Yan is overall a much calmer and more dispassionate man than his brother Ji. He rarely shows much emotion, neither looking angry or even particularly bothered when chastising his brother. He has only shown comical stress when dealing with Shen Wulong's antics, though he seems rather used to them and somewhat trusts him to avoid any consequences (though in Wulong's memory, Yan often appears to be somewhat annoyed with the oddities in Shen's behaviour). In addition, he doesn't seem to be afraid of the Connector at all, despite being his direct subordinate, going as far as to sarcastically insult him for his apparent carelessness.

His calm behavior can break, as shown when he threatened to kill Hiruko for her indiscreet question, emannating a threatening aura which shut her up in fear.

Plot

Yan first appears with his identity unknown, as he informs Shen Wulong of the death of Edward and Howard Wu.

Yan's full identity and his relation to Xia Ji is revealed in Chapter 151, when he is fully introduced along with Wulong.

Power & Abilities

Like his brother Ji, Yan was born with a low-level Superman Syndrome, making his muscles twice as strong as an average man's. He is implied to be much more diligent in his training than his brother, but the extent of his abilities remain unknown. While he admitted himself that his brother's innate talent for martial arts was higher, Yan proved to be far more dilligent in honing his combat strength. One clear example was how he managed to handle many enemies whose calibers gave Xia Ji a hard time with just two of them.

He is stated to be one of the few with the capabilities to beat Gaoh Mukaku, a powerful martial artist who earned the acknowledgement of Shen Wulong. Though their fight was short and interrupted, Yan seemed to be holding his own against Kanoh Agito in their hotel fight.
