"Get out."
— Mark Myers

Mark Myers (マーク・マイヤーズ, Māku Maiyāzu), also known as The Monster of Illinois (イリノイの怪人 (かいじん) , Irinoi no Kaijin), is a B-List gladiator in Purgatory.

Appearence[]

Mark is a massive, intimidating man. He adorns himself with a simple, featureless mask and fights wearing only a pair of short wrestling trunks.

History[]

In past Mark was a violent criminal detained in a maximum-security prison in Illinois. He served as a mafia bodyguard and his kill count is estimated at over 200, his total sentence is 3000 years. During his time in prison Toyoda Idemitsu made a secret deal with America to unleash him and afterwards he became a fighter for Purgatory.

Plot[]

When first introduced prior to the Kengan Association VS Purgatory Tournament, Mark was on the C-list fighting against Tommy Strummer for the opportunity to move up lists in a title match. Though he lost this fight, he was able to badly injure his opponent prior to being knocked unconscious.[2] Sometime in the following two years, Mark was successful in advancing to the B-list.

Mark was one several fighters who fought in the Berserker Bowl preliminaries. His first matchup was against Pitali Klitschko, a fellow Purgatory B-lister. He was able to defeat the pugilist in a back and forth brawl[3] and won his following match by default due to his opponent pulling out. Advancing to the championship tournament, Mark faced Lihito in the first round. Though he landed a few lucky strikes, Lihito's experience exploited the technique's weaknesses, landing a single Razor's Edge on Mark once he let his gaurd down.

Power & Abilities[]

Mark is a lethal combatant and violent criminal with a bodycount of over 200. He was first introduced in a match between himself and Tommy Strummer, proving himself to be a powerful and capable gladiator despite being restricted to non-lethalities. Though ultimately losing his match, he had a very close fight with his Tommy and overpowered him several times with his brute strength alone. Despite being a C-lister at the time, Jose Kanzaki confirmed that Mark was at the very least on the same level as a mid-level B-lister.

Two years after, Mark became a B-lister with potential to reach the A-list, gaining a win count of over 200. He was one of the winners of the Berserker Bowl preliminaries granting himself entry into the main tournament with next to no injuries.

In his match against Lihito, Mark demonstrated a muscle-clenching technique similar to the Niko Style's Indestructible. Though its unknown where Mark learned the technique, it enhances his durability and striking power greatly. However, his overeliance on it during his fight with Lihito suggests it was a recent development, and as Kuroki Gensai pointed out, the technique ended up hindering Mark's movements and doesn't protect his joints, which Lihito exploited to his advantage.

Trivia[]

  • Mark seems to be a reference to Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. His name references Michael, while his mask's design references Jason's hockey mask, albeit much more simplified.
