Koyasu Shingoro (子安 慎五郎, Koyasu Shingorō; "Shingoro Koyasu"), also known as The Lion King (獅子王, Shishiō), is a Meido Kaikan karateka, 4th Dan, and the six-time champion of the Meido Kaikan Tournament.[2] He participated in the Rokushin Kaikan Tournament.
Appearance[]
Koyasu is an incredibly domineering man with broad facial features, thick light-coloured hair, an equally thick beard and sideburns, thick eyebrows and a confident grin almost always affixed to his face. When he gets serious and excited in his fights, his eyes can take on a cat-like appearance.
Personality[]
Koyasu is a confident individual, befitting his great strength. He is also very perceptive, especially in regards to karate, able to correctly deduce the method Ikeuchi Mentaro was utilising to make up for his lack of intuition.[2][3]
Plot[]
Koyasu was first seen commenting on Ikeuchi Mentaro's style of karate.
In his first round match of the tournament, Koyasu fought against Tatsuyoshi Katsuya. With the two going blow for blow in a truly high-level fight, Tatsuyoshi was eventually awarded victory.
Power & Abilities[]
Reputed for being a once-in-a-decade talent, Koyasu is an incredibly powerful karateka and arguably one of the two strongest participants of the Rokushin Kaikan Tournament alongside Tatsuyoshi Katsuya. Koyasu also proved to be the only fighter who was an equal match for Tatsuyoshi (the eventual winner of the tournament), being the only fighter who warranted Tatsuyoshi needing to use a formal stance against,[4] the only fighter who could go the distance against Tatsuyoshi while the latter was fighting seriously[5][6][7] and the only fighter who was able to remain conscious and walk away after taking one of Tatsuyoshi's knockout strikes.[7]
Technique(s)[]
- Lance of Hades (冥王の魔槍, Meiō no Ma-yari):[7] Koyasu's signature technique. He strikes with an incredibly powerful reverse punch.
Etymology[]
- Koyasu means "child" (子) (ko) and "peace, quiet" (安) (yasu).
- Shingoro means "prudent, careful" (慎) (shin), "five" (五) (go) and "son" (郎) (ro).
