Volition is the nineteenth episode of the anime adaptation of Kengan Ashura and the seventh episode of the second part in Season 1.
Thai boxer Gaolang Wongsawat fights for his country and sworn liege. Kaneda Suekichi's clearly outmatched, but he's got a cunning and unshakable will.

Representing Yazu Trading, Gaolang has began his match against the representative of Ginokuniya Bookshop, Suekichi Kanada. Before the fight, Kazuo and Ken share drinks together, despite being opponents for chairman. Gaolang finds Kaneda to be a mediocre opponent. Kaneda moves in first, receiving several jabs from Gaolang. He is able to track Gaolang's, much unlike others before him. He is able to test out the waters and attempt redirecting and deflecting Gaolaing's offense. He sustains minimal damage inflicted per impact by displacing the blows, only in relation to the strength forced upon him. Kaneda takes a direct hit to the gut and collapses.
As Gaolang walks away, he considers Kaneda to be more of a formidable opponent than anticipated. Kaneda rises to his feet once more and pressures Gaolang to take their fight seriously, as Kaneda is aware he is weak, but aims to be strong. Kaneda is able to dodge nine out of ten of Gaolang's attacks, taking the tenth to the cheek and colliding with the ground. Gaolang proceeds to the second round as victor, considering Kaneda a friend forged in battle.
Ryo shares with Ohma and Kaede how Kaneda was suffering in silence, using a cocktail of pain pills and nerve receptor nullifying injections to cope with his physical ailment. He admires Kaneda's ability to adapt his average pain threshold to analyze opponents stronger than him so he may strategically defeat them. He adds that he would kiss Kaneda if he were a woman.
Kazuo gives his condolences to Ken's loss in battle. Ken reassures Kazuo he still benefited from entering alone.

- Kaneda's preparation and the reveal of his foresight ability are omitted.
- When Himuro is talking about Kaneda after the latter's match, he speaks to Kushida Rin in the manga. He speaks to Akiyama Kaede and Tokita Ohma in the anime.
