Summary[]
Sen scoffs at Chiba, so Chiba displays his capabilities by shifting into Gaolang, and Naoya. He explains that he has 24 fighters memorized to shift into. He can only mimic what he sees, not the extent of their physical capabilities. Chiba takes the stance of Andrews Filho and shifts into various fighters while barraging Sen. He makes the mistake of choosing an Aikido style fighter, which Sen finishes off with ease.
Yoshitake confronts Nogi. Nogi informs that the alleged assassin was actually a member of the association and that Yoshitake will be eliminated if word of this got out.
Representing University of Teito, Hajime Hanafusa enters the stage. At the other end is the representative of Juoh Communications is Yohei Bando. Yohei is a death row inmate who Hajime has been tasked to execute. Kazuo recalls when he first saw on the news that Yohei was arrested, his eyes haven't changed in the slightest despite his overall appearance being completely different.
Yohei is reluctant to fight Hajime, as he appears to be young and frail. However, Hajime attacks Yohei's pressure points in a style similar to Lingshu Chin Na. Hajime finds himself fascinated with how his strikes are not crippling Yohei, wondering if the density of his muscles prevent deep damage. He expresses that he ultimately wants to dissect Yohei and not damage him too terribly. He strikes Yohei's vertebrae only to draw his fingers back snapped in half.
Yohei concludes they are both abnormal judging by Hajime's lack of a reaction to his injury. Hajime hypothesizes that Yohei must be hyper flexible, which Yohei displays as true by contorting his body in several unnatural directions. Hajime extends blades from within his palms, stabbing Yohei in both shoulders. When asked if it is allowed, Hajime explains they are parts of his body that he carved from his own femurs. As though to be a fight matched perfectly, it is revealed that Hajime has no sense of pain and cannot be defeated unless he is killed, much like Yohei's inability to defeat an opponent without killing them.
From Hajime's explosive kick in Yohei's face, Yohei notices that Hajime must have compressed gas concealed in his heels. There is no telling how much destructive weaponry Hajime has modified his body to have. Yohei wins by snapping Hajime's neck completely.
Hajime is brought back by having his neck reset, revealing he has a device implanted to keep his heart beating when his brain stops sending the messages. He reassures his employer that Yohei should be dead any minute, according to the lethal blood infection he coated his blades with when attacking Yohei.
Anime and Manga Discrepancies[]
- Whereas in the manga, Bando's ultimate fate is left somewhat ambiguous, he is outright stated to have been successfully assassinated in the anime.
